Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. As the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support. That’s because we’re there every step of the way: During treatment – providing specialist nurses, play specialists, Homes from Home In hospital & at home – offering specialist social care and support in the community – services for young people, holidays, grants After treatment – helping survivors, supporting those bereaved.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer it can seem like normal life stops and a different journey begins. It’s a journey that tests families physically, emotionally, socially and financially.

To be told that a child has cancer comes as a terrible shock. Yet to know that seven out of 10 children now survive cancer may offer some kind of comfort and reassurance to families.

Thanks to research into treatment and causes, the outlook is now one of hope, forward thinking and positive outcomes.

Final2

Less than 2.2 seconds seperated all four finalists in the qualifying heats as they lined up for the Grand Final. In the cold and wet weather of 13 June 2011, it was anybody's race to win. On the "GO!", all four teams surged into action with little to chose between them. Ooh Wallah Wallah, Dragon Boat Champions of Chester in both 2006 and 2007 were determined to become win for the third time, but first had to shake off the other three teams.

For the Money Super Dragon (sister team from MoneySupermarket.com) and HMS Eaglet, teams this was their first Dragon Boat Festival (which just goes to show that novices can and do regularly qualify as finalists), whilst for MS Cymru, this was their first time qualifying for the final.

In an exciting last minute push, Ooh Wallah Wallah just crossed first in 1.22.83, ahead of Dragon Supermarket (1.23.22), HMS Eaglet (1.23.72) and M.S. Cymru (1.24.34).

It is worth noting that in order to make sure the timings are accurate, the Finish Judge uses the front of the boat as the timing point (and not the dragon's head) becuase not all the heads sit to the same depth.
