"Marie Curie has used Dragon Boat Events Ltd. for many years as their dragon boat supplier and hold fund raising dragon boat events at various locations round the UK. Our own events include Fritton Lake on Lord Summer-Leighton's estate in Norfolk and Rutland water in Leicestershire, but we have also benefited from money rised as a result of the Chester Dragon Boat Festival as well."

"We would like to take this opportunity to give our grateful thanks to the staff and instructors from Dragon Boat Events Ltd. as well as all the dragon boat teams who have entered our events and raised money for us.”

Marie Curie

Established in 1948 – the same year as the NHS – Marie Curie Cancer Care now employ more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals. We provide care to around 25,000 people with cancer every year, along with support for their families.

We also care for people with other life-limiting illnesses. Our services are always free of charge to patients and their families, which means that in 2007-08, we will need to raise more than £100 million.

The charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community to provide end-of-life care for patients in their own homes.

We have 10 hospices across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and two centres for palliative care research. We also run the world-renowned Marie Curie Research Institute, which investigates the causes and treatments of cancer.

In 2007, Marie Curie was supported by the Deeside Dragons team from Deeside College, organised by Paul Hinchcliffe (second flower on the left), with College Principle David Jones in the top hat.

Organisers for the Deeside Dragons team expect around £1,000 to be raised for Marie Curie.
